2/11/08 Seeds are starting to arrive - Hurray! Renees Seeds are back by popular demand - interesting, unusual varieties with the best cultural information on the packs of any seed company.

New this year is High Mowing Seeds from Vermont. Strange name - there must be a story behind it. Their seeds are all organic and much of it is produced right in Vermont. We like to support New England businesses so we were very pleased to find them. Why buy organic seeds? All those acres of land used to grow the seeds is NOT being treated with chemicals. The more chemicals we keep out of our environment, the better. And of course, the seeds are not treated with anything and are safer for gardeners to handle.

Returning again is Heart Seeds, of course, with all of your favorites. They are another New England company, from Connecticut.

Why start your own seeds? Well, it's cheaper than buying plants for one thing, and you can get varieties that aren't available as plants. Then there is just the joy of watching the miracle of growth from a hard little seed to a beautiful plant.
